Can epoxy catch fire while curing?
- HELL NO, you don’t need to worry about epoxy catching fire. It’s not flammable, it’s hard to ignite and it lacks the self-healing properties that would make it combustible.
- Epoxy is not a thermal insulator either: if something around epoxy gets hot enough, the heat will be transmitted through the material as well as any other medium (e.g., air).
- And finally: no matter how much you want to get rid of your epoxy by burning it, don’t do this! You’ll end up with an unusable mix full of carbon particles—and potentially even worse things like smoke or carcinogens in case of some additives used in some brands—that can irritate your lungs and make breathing difficult for a while afterward (even after cleaning).
