How We Research Articles

Every guide on Salvage Secrets is built from sources we can point to. Depending on the topic, we draw on the following.

  • Manufacturer manuals and technical data sheets for specific epoxy resins, hardeners, wood fillers, and adhesives.
  • Official documentation from tool and material makers.
  • Published standards from bodies such as ASTM International and ANSI.
  • Public data such as government safety sheets and building code references where they apply to a project.

For epoxy tables, countertops, and floors, we check mix ratios, pot life, cure times, and temperature limits against the product documentation. For renovation and woodworking topics, we check span tables, fastener schedules, and finish compatibility against published references. We do not invent sources, and we do not cite a study or standard that we have not actually read.

Who Writes Our Articles

Articles are written by named staff writers, including Martin Flood. Each article carries an author line so you know who prepared it. Writers work in the DIY, epoxy resin, and home renovation space and are expected to follow the sourcing rules above. If a topic falls outside a writer’s experience, we say so in the article or we do not publish it.

How Topics Are Chosen

We pick topics based on reader questions sent through our Contact page, recurring problems in epoxy and renovation projects, and gaps we notice in existing guides. We prioritize subjects where a wrong step causes real damage, such as epoxy that never cures, countertops that yellow, floors that peel, or joints that fail. We do not accept topic requests in exchange for payment or placement.

Independence and Advertising

Our recommendations are based on research and hands-on use. They are not shaped by advertiser or affiliate relationships. The site runs the following third-party services.

  • Google Analytics 4 for traffic measurement.
  • Ezoic for ad management and site speed, which serves ads and sets cookies, with partners that include Google ad technology.
  • Amazon Associates affiliate links in some articles. If you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
  • A comment form on posts that collects name, email, and website, plus standard server logs.

These tools do not decide what we recommend. We do not sell product placement, sponsored rankings, or positive reviews, and no company pays us to appear in a guide or to be rated favorably.

Use of AI Tools

We sometimes use AI tools as a drafting aid, but a human editor is responsible for every published article and all facts are checked against the sources described above before publishing.

Corrections and Updates

If you find an error, report it through our Contact page with the article title, the specific claim, and any source you have. We review reports and make corrections within a few days. When we correct or update an article, we add a dated update note so readers can see what changed and when. We do not quietly rewrite published guidance.

Safety and Advice Limits

Epoxy resin, hardeners, solvents, and renovation work involve real hazards. Our guides cover ventilation, gloves, eye protection, mixing safety, and cure conditions. They are general information and do not replace the product label, the safety data sheet, or local building and fire codes. Structural changes, electrical work, gas work, and load-bearing repairs should be handled by a licensed professional in your area. If a product’s instructions conflict with anything on this site, follow the product instructions.
