Salvage Secrets Design is the creation of Joanne Palmisano, an award-winning interior designer, stylist, and author of two internationally acclaimed books, Salvage Secrets, Transforming Reclaimed Materials Into Design Concept and Salvage Secrets Design & Décor. Joanne believes that something discarded is simply something not yet found, and she loves merging the worlds of old and new to create stunning, one-of-a-kind interiors.
Recent interior design work includes projects for the iconic Mad River Barn in Vermont and the Basin Harbor Club, a well-known 700 acre historic resort on the shores of Lake Champlain, VT. Joanne has created more than 150 online projects for DIY Network, including an 8-part video series on designing with salvage material. She regularly styles photo shoots for product companies, architects, national magazines and books and also gives presentations on the topic of decorating with salvage. When she’s not working directly with salvage, she’s thinking about it, baking cookies for the guys at the local scrap metal yard who set aside interesting pieces for her. She’s always looking for salvage in the most unlikely places, like the time she dragged an old wood boat out of the water to deconstruct it for a wall hanging.
Joanne lives on the shores of Lake Champlain, near Burlington, VT, with her husband and daughter.
